Water: The gift of life

Want to get rid of excess bloating? Increase your energy, motivation  + cognitive function? Perform better in + out of the gym?

Water is the largest component of the body, representing 45%-75% of your body weight. Water acts as a lubricant, shock absorber, building material + solvent. 

Water is essential for numerous reasons including:

– body temp. regulation

– nutrient transport

– waste removal

– blood pressure 

If we don’t consume enough water then our body can’t properly do its job leading to negative symptoms like fatigue, lethargy, + bloating, just to name a few.

How much should I drink? 

a. half your body weight (lbs) in ounces of water

b. drink at least 1 gallon a day* (I personally opt for option b)

How do I know if I’m hydrated? 

There are a couple different ways to check your hydration status but the easiest way is to look at the color of your pee. If it’s barely yellow + mostly clear you’re good to go. The darker the color the more dehydrated you are.

Struggle to get enough water everyday? Well guess what, you aren’t alone! Here are a couple strategies to drink more water:

1. Drink 16oz of water first thing in the morning – BEFORE your first cup of coffee
2. Drink 8oz of water before
3. Keep a water bottle with you ALWAYS
4. Add mio or infuse your water if you need a little flavor in your life
